Authorities continue investigating shooting in Du Quoin

DU QUOIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- UPDATE: Police said on March 17, at 8:22 p.m. their officers responded to Casey's at 231 N. Hickory Street for a shooting incident in the area.

Police said a male juvenile victim, who was shot in the leg, went into Casey's looking for help.

After law enforcement got there, police said they found out the victim went to the Marshall Browning Hospital.

Police said the shooting took place in the alley behind Casey's. Crime scene investigators with the Illinois State Police are processing the scene for any evidence.

Assisting the Du Quoin Police Department with responding to the shooting call was the Perry County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Police.

Law enforcement does not believe this was a random act. If you have any information, you are informed to call the Du Quoin Police Department at 618-542-2131.

ORIGINAL: Authorities are investigating a shooting which took place in Du Quoin on Monday night.

The Du Quoin Mayor Josh Downs alerted the public about the shooting taking place at the Casey's on Hickory Street.

Downs said this is an active police investigation and the person who they are looking for was not in custody as of Monday night.

Authorities ask if anyone has any information in regards to this investigation, or if they see anything suspicious, to call 911 and report it as soon as they can.
