Eight Babies Born at One Hospital in the Path of Totality on the Day of the Total Solar Eclipse

MT. VERNON, Ill. -- On the day of the total solar eclipse in our area, eight babies were welcomed into the world at one hospital which was in the path of totality.

These eight total solar eclipse babies were announced on the SSM Health Illinois Facebook page on Tuesday.

Five boys and three girls were born at the SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital on April 8, 2024. The hospital is located in Mt. Vernon which was in the path of totality.

The first of the babies was born at 8:22 a.m. The last of the babies was born at 10:59 p.m. with the six other babies born in between those times.

It is unknown at this time if any babies were born at the time of totality which was roughly 2 p.m. CST.
