* WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT /8 AM EDT/ this morning to midnight CDT /1 AM
EDT/ tonight.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Secure outdoor objects.

particularly dangerous situation with respect to the risk of flash
flooding and flooding this afternoon through Sunday.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM CDT /2 PM EDT/ THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding and flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected. Preliminary projections of up to 1 foot of total
rainfall over parts of the area is not out of the question.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 1 PM CDT  /2 PM EDT/ this afternoon through Sunday
morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water
crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of locally heavy rainfall over several days
will result in extreme forecast amounts of up to 1 foot of
rain that will cause the risk of flash flooding and flooding
to rise markedly and create a particularly dangerous flooding
situation.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

鈥淟ast week I introduced legislation to begin the discussion on how to move forward on the Shawneetown Regional Port District that is expected to support around 300 good-paying jobs in our area. As a former mayor, I understand the need for local and state governments to work together to best represent the interests of our communities.

鈥淎fter seeking feedback from residents and members of our local government, I agreed to hold the legislation so we can address some of the concerns that were brought to me by local leaders. I am deeply grateful to be a part of such an engaged community and am thankful to everyone who has taken their valuable time to share their input and suggestions with me.

鈥淚 will continue to work with all stakeholders, including local government officials, residents, businesses, and the Port District Authority, so that together we can help move this vital project and its many economic benefits forward in a way that best serves the needs of 九游体育 Illinois. We have drafted an amendment that seeks to improve the legislation by alleviating concerns, and I will continue seeking feedback from stakeholders before we decide the best course to move forward with everyone at the table.鈥�
