WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. (WSIL) -- Fire officials in one southern Illinois community are wanting the public to understand the dangers of drugs and to raise awareness.
The West Frankfort Fire Department posted some information about candy meth which some have labeled "Strawberry Quick" circulating on social media lately. West Frankfort Fire Chief Derek Sailliez says they have worked with area agencies, including police departments and drug task force agents and stated there have not been any credible threats of this drug in the area.
However, Chief Sailliez said it's at least a good time to discuss drug awareness with children, students and members of the community and educate them about the seriousness of these types of drugs and risks associated with them.
For more information, Sailliez said you may reach out to the fire department with any questions or concerns. The West Frankfort Fire Department number is 618-937-1234.
