Several cars on trailer catch fire causing backup on Interstate 57

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- No one was hurt after a fire damaged cars on a tractor trailer in Williamson County.

It happened on Interstate 57 on northbound mile marker 49 before 5:30 p.m Sunday.

Illinois State Police responded to a truck tractor car hauler on fire. A couple of cars were a total loss and at least three were damaged by fire.

Police shut down the right lane as the fire was put out, leading to a traffic jam from the crash site to the I-24/I-57 interchange. No injuries were reported.

Police reopened the lane an hour later.
