THEBES, Ill (WSIL)--Â Discover the lives of early residents of Thebes at "Ghosts of the Past," a cemetery walk hosted by the Thebes Historical Society on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
This unique event invites history lovers to gather at the Old Thebes Cemetery at 1 p.m. to meet historical re-enactors portraying men and women who lived—and died—in the area over 100 years ago. For those unable to navigate the cemetery walk, a seated presentation at the historic Thebes Courthouse begins at 2:30 p.m.
Entry is free, however donations are encouraged. All proceeds will go toward a $17,500 restoration project for the Thebes Courthouse, ensuring the building’s preservation for future generations.
