VIENNA, Ill. -- The Illinois Department of Transportation shared some work zones and projects, ongoing through 2025.
Road crews will be out working on various sections of roadways throughout Johnson, Williamson, Franklin, Jackson, Alexander and Union counties.
Here are some upcoming work zones slated through 2025.
- I-24 in Johnson and Williamson Counties
- Bridge construction, patching an resurfacing existing lanes
- Bridge construction, starting in 2024, followed by resurfacing existing lanes scheduled to be completed November 2025
- I-57 in Franklin County from West Frankfort to north of Benton
- Project consists of lane additions, new bridge construction and resurfacing both northbound and southbound
- I-57 traffic is allowed to be reduced to one lane in each direction during off-peak hours
- This is an ongoing project scheduled to be completed in June 2025
- Illinois 3 in Jackson, Alexander and Union Counties - Began on March 4
- Project consists of patching a resurfacing 25 miles of Illinois 3 from Howardtown Road, near Grand Tower, to the Cape T intersection (Illinois 3/Illinois 3)
- Traffic controlled by flaggers during work and is scheduled to take place over two construction seasons.
