Volunteers welcome for Lake Murphysboro State Park Trash Blast on February 18

MAKANDA, Ill. (WSIL) -- The public is invited out to a an event to help keep the area beautiful for visitors and wildlife.

The event is called the Lake Murphysboro State Park Trash Blast and is taking place on Tuesday, February 18, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Those in attendance will help out staff and other volunteer members help pick up trash and debris at the main pavilion by the shower houses.

All supplies will be provided.

Giant City State Park is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The mission of the IDNR is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois' natural, recreational and cultural resources, further the public's understanding and appreciation of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of Illinois' natural resources for present and future generations.
