...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Peak daily heat index values up to around 105 degrees.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may
cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Department surprises drivers with gift certificates

JOHNSON CO. (WSIL) -- Most of the time if you get pulled over, it means you're in trouble. But for some in Johnston County, their traffic stop turned out a little brighter.

On Tuesday, the sheriff's department was spreading holiday cheer and giving some lucky drivers gift certificates.

The certificates, to Johnson County businesses, were donated by the Elks.

The sheriff's department rewarded drivers who were being safe, wearing their seatbelts, and using turn signals.

The department will be out again Wednesday. They say they plan to make this an annual event.
