PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, they are investigating a report of an explosion which resulted in two construction workers injured on Monday.

This happened at the Lone Oak First Baptist Church in the Paducah area in the early afternoon hours on June 16.

The sheriff's office said there were reports from people who heard the explosion miles away.

The Lone Oak First Baptist Church stated there was an "accident inside of one of the barns on our construction site."

Both construction workers were reported to be critically injured. Both were taken to local hospitals, with one then taken to an out-of-state hospital.

Authorities said the construction crew were working in a building away from the church.

Officials tells us they do not have any reason to believe the incident was a result of something intentional or nefarious.

Assisting the McCracken County Sheriff's Office in the investigation is the Paducah Police Department, along with other local agencies.
