Kentucky Dam

GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (WSIL) -- The Kentucky Dam along the Tennessee River is spilling millions of gallons of water following heavy rain which fell across the region.

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) stated on Sunday, they were spilling out almost 2 million gallons of water per second. This is equivalent to 120 million gallons per minute or more than 7 billion gallons of water per hour.

The TVA is working with the US Army Corps of Engineers in helping reduce the flood crest over the next week along the Ohio River. As this happens, Kentucky and Barkley Lake levels will rise as they continue to store water.
