Local United Way receives donation from Walgreens

MT. VERNON, IL (WSIL) --  United Way of South Central Illinois announce a significant donation from the Walgreens Distribution Center (DC).

United Way officials say this donation will have a profound impact on multiple organizations and agencies throughout the region. It will directly benefit local schools, eight food pantries, two homeless shelters, and various children's organizations.

The items donated will immediately go into service to assist these organizations, enhancing their ability to serve those most in need.Ìý

United Way of South Central Illinois says support from Walgreens DC helps to fill resource gaps and provides essential items that will improve the quality of life for individuals and families across South Central Illinois.

“This donation truly changes the game for so many organizations in our region,� said Natalie Shook, Executive Director of United Way of South Central Illinois. “We are incredibly grateful to Walgreens DC for their generosity and commitment to making a difference in our community. The impact of these resources will be felt in our schools, shelters, and pantries, helping countless individuals get the support they need. This kind of partnership exemplifies what can happen when businesses and nonprofits work together to create meaningful change.�
