...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT /1 PM EDT/ SATURDAY TO 7 PM
CDT /8 PM EDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values between 100 to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ Saturday to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will cause heat impacts to be greater than
normal.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Locals come together to help replace a disabled veteran's roof

MT. VERNON, IL (WSIL) -- Work has begun on the roof of disabled veteran Jeffery William's home. 

The community rallied and came together to raised enough money for repairs, but they came up with enough money for a new roof. 

The family says the support the people have show them over the last few weeks is unreal.

"It's just overwhelming and humbling and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart." said Jeffrey Williams.

"Every dollar means the world to us. I can't put it into words. I'm humbled by it all." said Jennifer Williams.

The Williams' would like to thank the workers from Alpha and Omega Roofing. Officials say, the project should be completed some time Thursday.
