PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- A traffic stop in McCracken County led to the arrest of Bogdan Drapac on Wednesday. Police said Drapac, 41, was caught driving aggressively in a construction zone on I-24 on May 14.
Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff's Office said they initially stopped Drapac for speeding 30 mph over the speed limit. Drapac reportedly provided a passport and driver's license from another country but failed to show proof of insurance.
The sheriff's office said the deputy became suspicious about if the documents were forged. Drapac was arrested on multiple traffic violation citations and taken to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office.
Further investigation with Homeland Security confirmed the documents were fake, the sheriff's office said. Drapac, of Sacramento, California, was found to be in the U.S. illegally and wanted in Romania, California, and Texas for fraudulent credit card investigations, authorities reported.
Drapac faces charges including reckless driving, no operator's license, and possession of a forged instrument.
The sheriff's office also said an immigration detainer has been placed on him.
