Chris Roberts, 38

38-year-old Chris Roberts was arrested on meth trafficking charges after an undercover cop convinced him they could evade police.

CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky. (WSIL) On Tuesday, authorities received possible information about 38-year-old Chris Robert's whereabouts.

The Carlisle County Sheriff's Office says Roberts has been wanted since February 14th on meth trafficking charges. This comes after police searched his home and found crystal meth, scales, and other items.

The River Counties Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force worked to locate Roberts.

In their investigation, authorities say Roberts traveled to Memphis Tuesday and purchased meth. They say that on Wednesday morning, Roberts traveled to Union City, Tennessee. The sheriff's office says he then traveled to Paducah.

The sheriff's office says an undercover officer made contact with Roberts and agreed to take him to Ballard County. Authorities say Roberts was under the impression that the undercover officer would take him to the area and help hide him from law enforcement.

Once approaching a four-way stop in Lovelaceville, Ky, the sheriff's office says Task Force officers surrounded the vehicle.

Before taking Roberts into custody, police searched him and his vehicle. Authorities say they found 4 grams of meth, digital scales, baggies, and cash.

Roberts now faces two counts of 2nd-degree trafficking in methamphetamine or subsequent offense, and two additional charges including 1st-degree trafficking of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Roberts is currently in the Ballard County jail.
