...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values of 100 to 107.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Mayfield restores traffic lights on US 45 destroyed in tornado

MAYFIELD, Ky. -- US 45 in Downtown Mayfield will include new traffic lights beginning Monday.

The lights are an attempt from utility crews to restore the road to how it was before a tornado hit the city in December 2021. Crews installed three lights on January 2. The lights have been flashing red since. On Monday, the full spectrum of traffic-light operations will be in service for these lights. 

Below are the three locations of the lights:

  1. KY 80/Business & Broadway at US 45/8th Street (US 45 southbound one-way)
  2. KY 58/Broadway at 7th Street (US 45 northbound one-way)
  3. US 45/7th Street at North Street (US 45 one-way)

The Kentucky Department of Transportation (KYTC) reminds drivers to pay attention to all lanes around the construction. The lights replace the temporary four-way stops the town has had open since the tornado.
