Meeting set for Williamson County Circuit Clerk replacement

  • 0

WILLIAMSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- The process to replace the Williamson County Circuit Clerk is underway following her resignation over the weekend.

Austin Crabb was elected to the Williamson County Circuit Clerk position in November.

This Thursday, the Williamson County commission is holding a meeting to accept her resignation and possibly vote on her replacement.

While the circumstances of Crabb's resignation are not typical, commissioners say the resignation and subsequent replacement process is not unusual.

Crabb's resignation comes after her

, but the resignation has not been accepted by the commission yet.

The vote for Crabb's resignation would be at Thursday's meeting, as well as a vote for her replacement if a nomination is made.

This process for vetting a replacement--is not unusual.

"Because a Republican was elected to that position, a Republican has to be appointed to that position. We've done this for a few other positions over the years. The state's attorney, we've appointed a state's attorney, we've appointed a treasurer, we've appointed a county clerk. So this is gonna follow the same lines.," said Williamson County commissioner Jim Marlo.

News 3 reached out to Crabb for comment, which she declined.

While Crabb submitted her resignation, this does not mean that Crabb was found guilty for driving under the influence.

Her first court appearance is not until February 9th.
