48-year-old man dead after single-vehicle crash

OZORA, Mo. (WSIL) -- A 48-year-old man is dead after a crash in southeast Missouri along I-55 on Saturday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported the crash happened at 12:05 a.m. on October 5, near the 140 mile marker of I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County.

MSHP said Peter Brandt, 48 of Ste. Genevieve, was driving a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia going north when the vehicle traveled off the road and hit a billboard sign.

State police said Brandt was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. EMS personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
