BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (WSIL) -- A 54-year-old is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Saturday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported the crash happened at 2:45 a.m. on October 12, along Highway M, roughly five miles west of Poplar Bluff.

MSHP said Perry Walk, 54 of Doniphan, was driving a 2003 Ford Escape when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree.

Walk was pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Jim Akers.

State police said Walk was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Ford Escape was totaled and towed away from the scene.

MSHP said this was the 50th death related crash in the southeast Missouri area.
