Cape Girardeau Fire Stations Illuminate in Red for Fallen Firefighters

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Fire stations across Cape Girardeau are lighting up their stations in red to honor fallen firefighters and their families.

The , in partnership with the , are making sure the fallen firefighters, along with their families, are not forgotten as each of the five station are illuminated with a red light.

It's called the Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters and was created to recognize the 25th anniversary of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

According to the for 2024, most states are participating in the Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters, with several participating in southeast Missouri.

This runs from May 1 through May 5.
