SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. -- A missing hunter was found thanks to the help from dozens of area responders and live search dogs on Wednesday.
The incident happened near Tywappity Conservation Lake in Scott County. At around 7:15 p.m., Chaffee Fire and Rescue said they were alerted of a missing/overdue hunter on some private property.
Family members of the missing hunter told fire officials he was still in the woods and never returned to his vehicle.
That’s when multiple agencies came out to help look for the missing hunter.
Chaffee Fire and Rescue said 70 search members from various area agencies, along with three live find k9s, a drone and a helicopter, came out to help in the search.
One firefighter was reportedly injured during the search and was taken by EMS for evaluation.
Area agencies included in the search were the Scott City Fire Department, Benton Fire Department, Oran Fire, North Scott County Ambulance District, Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri State Highway Patrol Aviation Division, SEMO Regional K9 Search Team, Missouri Conservation Department and Region E Homeland Security Response Team.
