Old church building a total loss after fire in southeast Missouri

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. (WSIL) -- An old church building caught fire on Friday morning in southeast Missouri, causing complete destruction of the structure.

A member with the East Prairie Police Department stated the fire happened before 5 a.m. on Friday, December 6.

Fire crews arrived to find the building on fire.

A neighbor tells News 3 she woke up to see the building engulfed with flames.

Photos from Renee Norman Raymond show the fire spread throughout the entire building.

Police said the building was an old church and has been unoccupied for years. However, police said the building was going to be remodeled as an apartment complex under new ownership.

The building was reported as a total loss.
