CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Police respond to a call where they discover two dogs deceased and six other dogs without food, water or heat at a home.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department said on Monday, at around 10 a.m., officers went to the 1100-block of Good Hope Street for an animal neglect call.
Once officers got there, there were several dog kennels outside with two dogs there without any food or water, police described in a news release. They also said they saw two dogs which were deceased in the kennels, again without food or water.
The air temperature outside at the time was about seven degrees.
Police said they heard other dogs inside the home and went inside to find four other dogs with feces throughout the home.
Two dogs were found inside the home wondering around while the two other dogs were found in cages; again without food or water, police detailed.
Police also said there was not any heat on inside the home as well.
All of the dogs were taken to a local humane society.
