Sikeston Continues Curfew After Weekend Storms

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The City of Sikeston extended a curfew for Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, after a storm swept through the area on Sunday morning, causing damage throughout parts of the community.

The public was again alerted of the curfew by the city on Tuesday, which is in effect for the city limits of Sikeston from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The curfew will be strictly enforced, according to the city.

By order of Sikeston Mayor Greg Turnbow and Sikeston DPS Director James McMillen a curfew will be in place once again tonight for the city limits of Sikeston, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. The curfew will be strictly enforced.

This does not apply to those involved in repairs, demolition, homeowners, or property owners on their own property.

If you are traveling to and from work, medical, or other legitimate reasons, you are exempt. - City of Sikeston, MO

Sikeston was hit by a storm which caused significant damage to buildings and trees along E. Malone Avenue and on S. Ingram Road, along with other neighborhoods.

One person reportedly died in the southeast portion of Sikeston after a tree limb fell on Sunday, making it the 23rd known death related to the storms which swept across the nation on May 26.
