Two injured in single-vehicle crash in southeast Missouri

MARSTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Two people were injured after a single-vehicle crash along I-55 in New Madrid County on Monday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened on June 9, at 11:25 p.m. along I-55 in the northbound lanes at the 40.6 mile marker.

State police said a 26-year-old was driving a 2025 Toyota Camry going north when the vehicle ran off the road, hit an embankment and then a cable barrier on the east outer road. A 38-year-old female passenger was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver was reported with serious injuries and flown to Region One in Memphis for treatment. The passenger was reported with minor injuries and taken to the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

State police reported the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
