SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Two people are in custody after a high speed pursuit in the Sikeston area on Thursday.
The Sikeston Department of Public Safety said they first received a FLOCK alert in regards to a stolen vehicle coming into the city of Sikeston.
A short time later, an officer found the suspected stolen vehicle going east on Malone. This is when the officer tried to make a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Police said the suspected stolen vehicle then sped away at a high speed, going into Miner, then turning south on I-55.
Sikeston police said Missouri State Highway Patrol joined in on the pursuit and deployed spike strips down on the road.
The pursuit ended around the 56 mile marker and two people were then taken into custody.
Assisting Sikeston DPS in the pursuit was the Miner Police Department, New Madrid County Sheriff's Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
