CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- UPDATE: 10:43 p.m. - The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad said two people are now in custody in relation to the shooting which happened earlier on Tuesday.
The Major Case Squad said they identified a person of interest in this shooting investigation which resulted in two people shot and taken to the hospital.
At around 8 p.m., officers found a vehicle which was believed to be connected to a suspect from the incident. After they tried to stop the vehicle near Woodbine and Themis, the car then drove away.
After a short pursuit, the vehicle reportedly stopped near Pindwood and Whitener. At this point, authorities said three people got out of the vehicle and ran away.
Police were able to catch up with two of the people who ran and took them into custody. Charges are pending for those two, police said.
Information on the third person who ran is unknown.

ORIGINAL: 3:09 p.m. - Police were on scene of a shooting incident in Cape Girardeau where two people were reportedly shot.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department earlier shut down all lanes of William Street from Kingshighway to Hardee's to investigate the shooting.
Police said the shooting happened at 2:30 p.m. Cape Girardeau officers went to the scene and found two people who were shot near 2161 William Street (CVS Pharmacy).
Both of the shooting victims were then taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The Cape Girardeau County/Bollinger County Major Case Squad is now investigating the shooting incident.
