WEST FRANKFORT (WSIL) -- Hundreds of people visited a mobile market food giveaway in West Frankfort Saturday.
The giveaway is hosted by the Life Source Community Church right outside the church on 1011 E. 6th Street.
Fresh fruit and vegetables, ranging in anything from watermelons to potatoes, were prepared in large boxes for those that need the help.
Brent Pyles, Lead Pastor at the church, says the giveaway is easy for church members because it's just the right thing to do.
"This is what we do. We are a community church," says Pyles. "We love our community, so we teach and preach that we are the body of Christ in our community, and this is what Jesus would be doing. They have that same heart; they love to be out here."
Saturday's mobile market is in partnership with the Feeding America Food Bank out of St. Louis.
The food bank's semi-trailers usually only go to larger communities, so organizers say it's also a great opportunity to help out smaller neighboring communities to West Frankfort.
