...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Illinois, including the following
counties, Franklin, Jefferson, Johnson, Perry, Pulaski, Union,
Wayne and Williamson.

* WHEN...Until 1000 AM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water
crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 613 PM CDT, Even though the heavy rain has ended,
substantial flooding continues across much of the warned
area. Between 5 and 9 inches of rain have fallen since the
start of the event on Wednesday. Only light drizzle is
anticipated through this evening.
- Flooding impacts will continue, with only minimal additional
rainfall expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Marion, Mount Vernon, Herrin, West Frankfort, Benton, Du
Quoin, Pinckneyville, Carterville, Fairfield, Anna, Johnston
City, Christopher, Jonesboro, Vienna, Rend Lake Area, Sesser,
Zeigler, Crainville, Cambria and Cobden.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

...FREEZE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 to 30 degrees
possible. Everyone should see a 32 degree low or close to it.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From late Monday night through Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Williamson and Franklin
Counties.

.Heavy rainfall has ended across the area. The Big Muddy River is
continuing to rise and crests are expected over the next week.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 34.0 feet, Many surrounding homes begin to flood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 23.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 32.4
feet Wednesday morning.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

American Idol auditions go virtual

(WSIL) -- It's never been easier to audition for American Idol on ABC.

Joining a big group of people for auditions doesn't make sense right now, so instead producers are using a "Zoom Room" for remote auditions.

You must be between 15 and 28-years-old and may audition on any "Idol Across America" date, regardless of your location.

"We're looking for people who can sing and perform. I say this all the time in the Zoom Room. Please don't just stand there and sing, and please don't look at the floor. The floor is not you audience. Your audience is right there. Helping you connect with that person will help you get on the show," explained Patrick Lynn, senior supervising producer for American Idol.

To audition, visit and reserve a date and time.

Auditions for Friday, Aug. 28 run 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

If they like you, the next stop is auditioning for the judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan.

Season 4 of American Idol premieres on ABC in 2021.
