CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (WSIL) -- Leaders and other members of the community gathered at Gateway Church in Cape Girardeau Thursday to discuss race relations.
The town hall titled “Race Relations in Conservative America brought together panelists to share their thoughts on the recent state of affairs in our country. Spiritual leaders, influencers, lawmakers, and police officers were on hand.
Leaders said the goal is to build bridges toward reconciliation between different classes and groups in America.
"It's not about winning an argument, it's about sharing. It's about exposing some inconsistencies, some inequalities as well. So hopefully, we can get something together to build on. Hopefully, we can agree to build on something that is going to help both sides," said Ben Porter, pastor of Gateway Church.
The next town hall meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 23 at Gateway Church. The church is located at 333 Broadway in Cape Girardeau.
