Fire investigation at 20s Hideout Steakhouse

UPDATE -- 5:05 p.m., February 28, 2020

Chief Barnett says smoke was coming from the east side of the building.

"We'll go back again and we'll check on the business owner. Anything we can do to help, we're going to do. We've reviewed video tape from some of the other businesses that allowed us in to look at that. So it'll be ongoing," he said.

Barnett also said repairs could take two to four weeks.

20s Hideout Steakhouse released this statement on .

"20’s Hideout Steakhouse is sad to share that just after midnight last night we experienced a fire causing significant damage to our facility. We will be closed this weekend to assess the damage and will provide updated information the first of the week. Thank you for your patronage and understanding. We look forward to rebuilding and continuing to serve our customers in the very near future. "

ORIGINAL STORY

MARION (WSIL) -- The State Fire Marshal is investigating an early morning fire at in Marion.

Marion, Herrin, Carterville, Lake of Egypt, West Frankfort, and Johnston City Fire Departments along with MABAS 45 Air Truck responded to the blaze around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28.

Marion Fire Chief Tim Barnett says smoke was coming from the side of the building when they arrived. Crews located the fire in a storage room on the east side of the restaurant and were able to contain it.

The extent of the damage is unknown and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
