JACKSON CO., Ill. (WSIL) -- Two events in Carbondale had area leaders getting wet for a good cause.
On Monday, March 15, Jackson County State's Attorney took a "plunge" in a dunk tank near the Jackson County Courthouse as part of a fundraiser for Special Olympics Illinois.

"It started off with me kind of taking an ice bucket challenge--my wonderful staff suggested we do a dunk tank--and it turned out to be a really good event. We had a lot of people out here and again supporting a great cause," Joe Cervantez said.

Then on Wednesday, March 17, SIU-Carbondale Chancellor Austin Lane took part with technology students at the Transportation Education Center.
Lane tells News 3 WSIl it was the perfect way to give back to the community.
"We got wet today for a great cause. Our partnership with the Special Olympics and all the great work that they do, its such a pleasure to be out here with automotive technology students and raising a lot of money and we're just excited to have this partnership and be a part of this today," Lane said.
