Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Plumfield and Murphysboro.

.Levels will continue to fall on the Big Muddy River, dropping
below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and will continue.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until early Sunday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 23.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Sunday morning and continue falling to 15.1 feet Thursday,
April 24.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

News 3 anchors celebrate Read Across America Day

HERRIN (WSIL) -- March 2 is National Read Across America Day.

The day celebrates reading and encourages children to pick up a book.

It's also the birthday of popular children's author Dr. Seuss.

On Monday, News 3's Evie Allen and Dave Davis joined other local celebrities to read to kids at North Side Primary Center in Herrin.

The two read a book about "Clark the Shark."

Well-known character "Cat in the Hat" also visited for a quick photo.
