WILLIAMSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- A Williamson County man has been recognized for helping create job opportunities for thousands in southern Illinois.

Dutch Doelitzsch was a volunteer member of REDCO and led as Chairman since its inception in 1998. He retired from volunteering in 2020. The Regional Economic Development Corporation includes the Airport Authority, cities and Chambers for Marion, Herrin, and Carterville, and Williamson County government. Dutch said the main goal of REDCO was to bring those entities together to form a single voice, attracting businesses for jobs. One of the most notable developments during his time with REDCO is AISIN.

"A job means everything to people, not only for their livelihood but also for their self-esteem," said Dutch.

Dutch said job creation is crucial for the success and prosperity of this area.

"Being able to create those job opportunities is just crucial for us to maintain our standard of living here in Williamson County and southern Illinois, and to the extent that I've been a small part of that, it makes me feel good," added Dutch.
