CARRIER MILLS (WSIL) -- Celebrating Mother's Day is different this year with the Coronavirus keeping many families apart and limiting where celebrations can take place.
The day can especially be difficult for family and friends wishing to see their loved ones living at long-term care facilities.
That prompted the staff at Carrier Mills Nursing & Rehab Center to organize a Mother's Day Parade, so families can connect safely.
Staff helped set up seating for residents outside while their families drove honking their horns, holding handmade signs and sending their well wishes from the car.

Christy Barter, Administrator at the facility, says many families gave positive feedback about the parade being held.
"We had a lot of families come by and tell us how much they love this and appreciate us, she explains. "We have some outstanding, wonderful families and our residents are absolutely wonderful."
While many residents wished that they we're able to spend more quality time with their children and grandchildren, they felt fortunate to at least see them from a far.

"I'd like to see my family in person," says Wilma Lollar. "But this is better than nothing, and I enjoyed this very much."
News 3 wishes those residents and families, a Happy Mother's day.
