One dead, another injured after two-vehicle crash

NEELYVILLE, Mo. (WSIL) -- A woman is dead and another injured after a crash on Tuesday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported the crash happened at 9:15 p.m. on October 1 at the intersection of Missouri Highway 53 and Missouri Highway 142. in Butler County.

MSHP detailed in a crash report, Shanea Brown, 38 of Poplar Bluff, was driving a 1987 Chrysler 5th Avenue and hit the side of a 2022 Kia Carnival in the intersection. The Kia was driven by a 32-year-old female from Poplar Bluff.

Brown was taken to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead, according to the report.

The 32-year-old driver of the Kia was also taken to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

State police said Brown did not have a safety device on. The other driver did have a safety device on. Both vehicles were considered totaled.

MSHP reports this as the 47th death related to a traffic crash in the southeast Missouri area for 2024.
