CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- Four dogs are up for adoption across the region in this edition of Pets of the week.
Nyx is a 5-year-old Chiweenie-Terrier taken to PAWS because her dad had some health issues and couldn't care for her. Nyx weighs about 12 to 14 pounds and is particularly house-trained. She is a bit quirky and takes a little time to warm up. She is not suited for a home with children because she nips when frightened. She will need someone to give her some time and patience. Her adoption fee at the shelter in Anna is $200.
A white Pit Bull puppy needs a name and a home. He is about 3 to 4-months-old and was found on North Division Street in Carterville. He is up for adoption at Williamson County Animal Control in Marion.
Joker is a 1-and-a-half-year-old Lab-mix who had to be surrendered by his owner, but not because they wanted to. Joker is still nervous about people but gets along well with all other animals. He is housebroken, and it takes him a bit to warm up with people. He would be great for someone living alone. He lets you know when you're too close and should back up but is also very affectionate, loves to give kisses, high-fives, and play. Joker is up for adoption at the Wayne County Humane Society in Fairfield.
Franklin is a sweet two-year-old male Border Collie mix who is looking for the right family. He has never growled or nipped, but he can't be in a house with a lot of kids running around. Franklin needs quiet time and patience, so he can learn to trust his new family. Franklin enjoys other dogs, and he ignores the cats he sees. He is neutered and vaccinated, but unfortunately, he tested heartworm positive. If you can't officially adopt him, you can help me get started on my heartworm treatments. The total cost is $350 to adopt or to help with his treatment call Union County Animal Control in Cobden.
