...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Pets of the Week: December 10, 2020

CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- There are three dogs looking for their forever homes in this edition of Pets of the Week.

Let's start with a beautiful two to three-year-old female Beagle mix. She doesn't have a name and is not microchipped. Her adoption fee is $147.00 and that covers spay, rabies vaccination, and microchip. She is available at Williamson County Animal Control in Marion.

Ryder is a black and white male, Pit-mix. He is 1 to 2 years old and his owner could not keep him any longer. Ryder is described as loyal, smart, and knows how to sit. He is heartworm negative and vaccinated. If you're interested in him contact Herrin Animal Control.
