PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 8:30 PM CDT Thursday was 28.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 28.0
feet just after midnight tonight.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Police clear area after crash in Carbondale causes gas leak

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) � UPDATE: The scene is secure as of 9:30 p.m., police said  

ORIGINAL: Police are on scene of a single-vehicle crash which has caused a gas leak in Carbondale.

The Carbondale Police Department is informing the public to avoid the area of the 1300-block of E. Main Street.

Carbondale police informed the public about the crash and leak at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night.
