CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) � Carbondale police responded to a stabbing on Monday, May 5th, at a residence on the 800 Block of West Mill Street.
Police say 39-year-old Branden Rogers is a known acquaintance of the victim.
Carbondale Police say Rogers was initially asked to leave the victim's home, but returned and attempted to force his way back inside.
During the altercation, police say Rogers stabbed the victim, who was trying to prevent him from re-entering.
The victim retaliated, striking Rogers until he left the scene, police reported.
Both Rogers and the victim received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at the emergency room.
Rogers was arrested and charged with home invasion and aggravated battery. He is currently in the Jackson County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
The Carbondale Police Department says the investigation is ongoing.
