MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) -- Voters in Murphysboro have approved a proposal to allow recreational marijuana sales in the city.
City leaders voted against the sale of recreational marijuana within city limits previously.
Mayor Will Stephens suggested the city put an advisory question on the ballot, to allow residents to decide.
That advisory question has passed.
The city of Murphysboro will now determine how to move forward with marijuana businesses in town.
Correction: News 3 WSIL previously reported the measure failed, but it has passed.
