...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Former Illinois Sen. Paul Schimpf to challenge Gov. Pritzker in 2022 election

(WSIL) -- Former State Senator Paul Schimpf, of Waterloo, announced his candidacy for Governor early Monday morning.

Schimpf is a Marine Corps veteran and served as an Illinois State Senator from 2017 until January, when Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) took his seat.

After announcing his campaign in a virtual event Monday, Schimpf is scheduled to tour the state. He starts in Algonquin then travels to Rock Island and Morris. On Tuesday, he makes stops in Decatur, Mount Vernon and Waterloo.
