(WSIL)-- Illinois residents who want to vote, but still aren't registered, have a path to cast their vote.

Election officials stress you just need a couple of items to register and vote tomorrow.

All you need is a photo ID, such as a driver's license or state ID, and something to confirm your address, like a piece of mail.

This process is called grace period voting and it allows voters to register to vote and cast a ballot on the same day.

You cannot do this at every polling place however, each county has different places where grace period voting is allowed.

In Jackson County, you can go to the Jackson County Courthouse or to the Carbondale Civic Center.

"Same day grace period voting is a really good option, especially for students or people that are new to the area. All they have to do is register and vote. It's easy and Illinois is one of the best places where you can do all these things," said Jackson County Clerk and Recorder Frank Byrd.

If you would like to participate in grace period voting, be prepared to wait a bit longer to cast your ballot, as the process can take more time to complete.

Grace period voting is available in Illinois, but not in Kentucky or Missouri.

Polling places will be open on November 3rd from 6 am until 7 pm.
