...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Areas of southern Illinois along and south of Highway 13
and all of western Kentucky.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop across
southern Illinois and western Kentucky. Areas that see
thunderstorms could receive 1.5 to 3.0 inches of rain in just
one or two hours, with locally higher amounts up to 4 inches
possible.

should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Kamala Harris formally resigns Senate seat en route to being first female vice president

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (WQOW) - In a letter to California's governor, Sen. Kamala Harris has formally announced her resignation from the United States Senate.

Harris will be sworn in as vice president on Wednesday. She will become the first woman vice president and the first Black and Asian American vice president.

In her letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom, Harris called it an honor to have served the people of California for four years.

Her resignation took effect at 11 a.m. CT on Monday.

Newsom previously announced Alex Padilla would be taking over Harris' seat. He was the California Secretary of State.
