MARION (WSIL) -- Representative Mike Bost (R-Muphysboro) held a news conference Tuesday morning in Marion, to discuss his bill for safe truck parking.
Back in March, Bost introduced the to help expand truck parking spaces so drivers can safely comply with rules behind the wheel.
During Tuesday's news conference, he said he hopes the Senate and the House can create a new Service Transportation Amendment to get more funding.
"Trucks are parked alongside and on down on and off ramp and other locations. That's because a driver's hours require them to stop at a certain time or if otherwise, it's a penalty on them and their driving record," he said.
The Illinois Trucking Association’s Marion Council reports, on average, a truck driver takes about an hour to find a parking spot.
