Jackson County Health Department officials offering free measles vaccinations

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL)—The Jackson County Health Department will offer free measles vaccinations following a recent outbreak in Southern Illinois.

Officials will be in the Murdale Shopping parking lot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 8th.

Anyone 12 months and older is eligible to receive the vaccine.

Health officials ask that you bring an insurance card if you are insured. If you do not have health insurance, a program is available to cover the cost.

The health department notes that if you were born before 1957, you are believed to be protected from the virus and do not require a vaccine.

No appointment is required.

For any questions, contact the Jackson County Health Department at 618-684-3143 ext. 150.
