Scattered storms return Thursday, isolated strong storms are possible

CARTERVILLE Ill. (WSIL) -- A few showers are attempting to move in from the northwest, but continue to diminish this afternoon. A small shower chance is possible through the evening for our north and west counties, but mostly dry conditions are expected. Cloudy and warm weather will continue overnight, with lows dipping down near 70 degrees.

Another chance for a few showers and storms will arrive Thursday morning. This could impact your morning commute, but it won't be a washout. The better chance for storms will be during the evening and overnight hours. This complex will move in from the northwest, bringing the chance for an isolated strong storm or two. The main hazards will be damaging winds, lightning and heavy rainfall. These will move east southeast, not exiting the region until Friday morning.

Aside from the chance for rain, it will pretty warm and muggy again. High temperatures both Thursday and Friday will climb back into the low 90s. Heat indices will also rise into the triple digits.

A cold front will bring us drier and more comfortable weather by the weekend.
