...Severe Weather Risk Today...

Thunderstorms have developed in southwest Missouri ahead of a cold
front and are steadily moving east. This activity is expected to
encounter increasingly favorable conditions for the development of
tornadoes and damaging winds as it moves east into the region
later today. Strong tornadoes are possible as well as significant
damaging wind.

While the risk of a tornado at any one spot is always low, it will
be prudent to have a plan and a way to quickly access adequate
shelter as this activity moves in. React quickly to warnings as
the average time between a warning and tornado development on
events like this can be as low as 5 to 10 minutes.

Poplar Bluff, Marble Hill and Perryville, 3:00-5:00 pm

Carbondale, Mt. Vernon IL, and Dexter MO, 4:00-6:00 pm

MORNING TO MIDNIGHT CDT /1 AM EDT/ TONIGHT...

* WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT /8 AM EDT/ this morning to midnight CDT /1 AM
EDT/ tonight.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Secure outdoor objects.

.Historically high forecast rainfall amounts will create a
particularly dangerous situation with respect to the risk of flash
flooding and flooding this afternoon through Sunday.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM CDT /2 PM EDT/ THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding and flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected. Preliminary projections of up to 1 foot of total
rainfall over parts of the area is not out of the question.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 1 PM CDT  /2 PM EDT/ this afternoon through Sunday
morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water
crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of locally heavy rainfall over several days
will result in extreme forecast amounts of up to 1 foot of
rain that will cause the risk of flash flooding and flooding
to rise markedly and create a particularly dangerous flooding
situation.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

The foundation opened Thursday after an open house on Wednesday.

MARION, Ill. -- The 九游体育 Illinois Community Foundation opened a new office in Marion on Thursday.聽

The foundation held a ribbon cutting for its new location Thursday morning with the Carterville Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the chambers of Herrin and Carbondale.聽

The foundation will hold a ribbon cutting on Thursday.

CEO of SICF Bryan Fager told News 3 he is especially excited for the new office's conference room.聽

"[The room] can be set up multiple different ways whether for a board meeting a training session or even a fundraiser," said Fager. "The purpose is really to find a way to share those common resources that we all need and be able to do it in a way to keep our costs low to benefit the community the best way possible."

SICF supports nonprofits in 17 counties across 九游体育 Illinois and is a key part in News 3's Give SI campaign.聽

The grand opening comes just one day after the foundation held an open house for the public.聽

The new location sits at 900 Skyline Drive, Suite 500 in Marion.聽
