WSIL -- A regional tourism group is ramping up the ways it plans to draw more visitors to southern Illinois.
In an effort to drive travel and tourism to our area ILLINOISouth Tourism has released a new-look 2021 Visitors Guide.
One of the new features in the virtual guide is the ability to interact online with the many listings and attractions within.
Communications Director Andy Waterman says tourism is essential to bringing customers back to the area.
"Tourism is going be one of the biggest keys in terms of getting everything back up and running again," says Waterman. "Before the pandemic, tourism was one of the largest sectors of profit for the state. We had over $41 billion spent the year prior."
The visitors guide is available online or as a printed resource. It is free to the public.
