ZEIGLER, Ill. (WSIL) -- A woman was arrested and faces arson charges in connection to two recent fires.

The Zeigler Police Department said a structure fire was reported at 2 p.m. on January 23 in the 100-block of School Street. Firefighters from the Zeigler Fire Department responded to the blaze and quickly put it out

However, police said the outbuilding was a total loss.

An investigation in what caused the fire started and the Zeigler Police said some nearby residents gave them some information leading up to the fire.

The State Fire Marshal came by to assist as well.

Both the State Fire Marshal's Special Agent Little and Zeigler Police Chief Ben Burkhammer interviewed Amber Sanders of Zeigler about the fire on January 23, on School Street, along with a suspected arson of her home roughly three weeks earlier.

Zeigler police said Sanders was then cited for arson, aggravated arson and criminal damage to property and was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

According to online court records, she formally faces three arson charges, one aggravated arson charge and a residential arson charge.

Sanders is due in court on January 24, at 1 p.m.
